1NC Rd 3 Lewis and ClarkTournament: Lewis and Clark | Round: 3 | Opponent: Whitman AS | Judge: Van Luvanee Lawyer in 2013 Salon’s arc of fail last week began with David Sirota’s meditation that “we are all targets now,” And, Racism is the root cause of violence What in fact is racism? It is primarily a way of introducing a break into the domain of life that is under power's control: ….except by activating the theme of racism. Only by speaking out against racism can we hope to eliminate it. Privileging their exaggerated impact scenarios sustains the dominant structures that make institutional racism inevitable IRC in 2006 According to this view, we must work to improve racial understanding, end prejudice, and build solid relationships among people of different ethnic backgrounds. Framework This is an a priori issue We control external impacts – abandoning politics causes war, slavery, and authoritarianism Ableism Case turns The aff’s placement of disability within a narrative structure creates a separation between the disabled and non-disabled body by ignoring the fluidity we all have in relation to disability. The deviancy of disability only exists in relation to the presupposed normality of “nondisabled” bodies, we must rethink the biases towards “normal” bodies. The disqualification of individuals integral to ableism operates under all other forms of oppression, and as we continue to combat other instances oppression, ableism remains in full force. The irrational nature of the feminine is key to solving in the debate sphere. To speak of women through binaries is to reestablish the repression and censorship of the feminine discourse, a reestablishment of the system which aims to destroy, define and exclude all that is feminine. It reaffirms through discourse the feminine as a lack, when in reality discursivity cannot conceive or understand the true value of feminine discourse. Does this retraversal of discourse in order to rediscover a "Feminine" place suppose a certain work on/of language? Alternative: Vote negative to Crip the Human Case Narratives create a cross-cultural dialogue that reveal the concealedness of resistance – the contextualization with Meritt and I’s story is proof of this unique solvency Evaluation through narratives only perpetuates slave/master relations that create oppressions in the first place Even if the affirmative’s criticism of methodology and representation can access the political, it can only do so through compromise- This means that the affirmative cannot succeed on its own – Modern politics is transformative when approached under a political framework One might deal with this problem by assuming that even though officials will not read the scholarly article, Social movements alone cannot succeed in the realm of the political. Movements that emerge from the bottom up lack articulation in political or policy demands. Without first engaging in politics, movements cannot achieve any effective change. Newswise — RIVERSIDE, Calif. – As the Occupy Wall Street protest enters its fourth week, UC Riverside political science professor John W. Feminist thought focus on identity creates a politics of exclusion that prevents meaningful critiques and turns the very superior identification they try to solve Critical research agendas of this type, however, are not found easily in International Relations. Role-playing is key to problem-solving and developing understanding for others’ perspectives Their fetishization of narrative strengthens oppression – their desire to ‘get the word out’ affirms a violent ‘free market’ approach to public discourse and short circuits activism The need to "break the silence" reproduces violence and oppression by normalizing and codifying it - these essentialisms totalize subjects of subordination and short-circuit resistance Narratives essentialize identity groups as powerless and victimizes - this relegates subjectivity to victimhood and excludes anyone who doesn’t meet this model of subordination Their assumption that they are the only starting point is to justify acts of violence just like the slaughtering of aboriginals. You must accept a difference of community because through acceptance of difference a resistence to commonality and an embrace of alteraties results.
