The 1ac is a futile and destructive attempt to internalize the Other –
But the Other is an enigma – knowing or projecting your own justifications destroys the very ethical act

For a gift must be active—she must … — it is to provide meaning for that which has none
The affirmative has chosen a reading of death—to textually represent a faceless death of the detained, to revel in the piety of their action—but this robs each other’s sacrifice and their choice of death from the other—the aff is a self-serving necrophilia
Fernando 10 Jeremy. Jean Baudrillard Fellow at the European Graduate School, Research Fellow at the Centre for Liberal Arts and Social Sciences. The Suicide Bomber; and her gift of death. New York, Dresden.
Death is this unknowability … in the moment of exchange.
The ethical impulse of the aff comes from a narcissistic desire for a unified self. They embody the “knights of good consciousness,” but it only sustains the gift economy of exchange. However, the detained gift of death CANNOT be understood. This renders the aff simply a calculative rational that sustained human atheism – sustaining assimilation and extermination of otherness.

The psychology of mastery … themselves and at home in the world.
The only response to the particular other is the gift of death—of irresponsibility—and this isn’t easy—but the sacrifice of ethics: of an action absent of all justification for the sake of responsibility to the singularity of the absolute other—is the only option to respond to the Other. This means in the context of debate—you should advocate the destruction of indefinite detention minus the justifications/ advantages/ ethics/ calculation.

Of course, once the instant of … to everything—except the ability to respond.
