ROOT CAUSE
Our 1AC does an in-depth historical analysis of how patriarchy, racism, slavery, capitalist exploitation, and THE STATE came out of abuses committed on animals; that’s Best, which does the genealogical analysis they wanted us to do. At the same time, those impacts also make speciesm more prevalent as well. As such, they might be right to mention the state, but they shouldn’t have framed it as an all-encompassing evil because we cannot fight one cause of violence without simultaneously fighting all of the others. Our queer methodology promotes their alternative while going further to see the big picture, whereas their static interpretation of oppression inevitably causes queer violence. Even if our advocacy alone doesn’t address their entire 1NC, the permutation certainly does. We cannot stop biopolitics without also addressing speciesm and ecology.

Nowhere in the resolution or the rules does it say we need to defend a plan. We can approach and affirm the topic through criticism. This allows us to form sites of resistance to challenge the state’s policies while not giving the legal system further legitimacy. No successful social movement starts in Congress and few can avoid breaking society’s norms or rules through civil disobedience. They are like the president telling the civil rights movement to settle its differences in the courts and not the streets. The non/human can’t wait for us to become policymakers, and those politically disavowed can’t even go through the courts.
Specifically for non/human animals, these policies would do nothing and merely push the larger problem underground. The education our aff provides is a prerequisite to meaningful policy initiatives.

Even if such policymaking were possible, using fiat would shift the discussion to irrelevant politics D/As and process counter-plans. That’s not even how real world policymaking works because Congress amends bills to solve non-intrinsic D/As.
However, when faced with movements like ours, which go against the grain of the political norm, nothing gets done. The government is not a homogeneous entity, and their assumption that fiat is educational or predictable is thus inherently anti-queer. We need to recognize the infinite difference of congresspeople to create realistic legislative strategies.
