Relinquishing the humanity of the oppressed is enabled only through a transformation 

to our perspective on the lives of the oppressed.  Friere 70:

The same is true with respect to the individual oppressor as person…. and thereby acts to 

submerge human beings’ consciousness.

Injecting these stories into the debate space subverts the natural tendency of the 

United States to systematically ignore the systems of oppression that have manifested 

through the use of drone warfare.
